On Saturday we did a day trip to Montauk. We left early, at 6:00am, so that we could catch a couple hours of the dog-friendly morning time at Ditch Plains Beach which is on the Atlantic side of the island.
When we got there the beach was FULL of surfers. The weather was awesome, but was definitely too cold to swim without a wet suit. That didn’t stop the big retriever breeds from running into the ocean full speed ahead to fetch sticks and toys. It did, however, stop Evie from going in the water. She 100% avoided contact, except for the times when the waves on shore caught her by surprise! Hilarious to watch.
We tried to grab lunch at the Clam Bar on Montauk Highway (all outdoor seating, so it didn’t cross our minds that having Evie with us would be an issue), BUT the staff told us Suffolk County does not allow dogs on restaurant property. Major bummer. So we left.
We ended up having lunch at another one of our favorite places- La Fondita in Amagansett. Super cute picnic-style Mexican food. Horchata, chips, guacamole, tacos, and tres leches!
